The promises of spring.

Spring feels like such a fresh slate.  The snow is melting, the streets get swept, we clean our winter clutter, and some of us do a spring body cleanse too.  That can look like a shift in our diet from  soups, stews and heavier roasted foods to lighter stir fries, or some lemon water and  some bitter greens to stimulate our digestion.

Another way to clean our slate is with a mental inventory of what is serving us well, and what we aim to change.  And in this sometime crazy world we see and feel this spring, mental health support is really needed!  If you’d like some help with this mental health spring cleaning, I have a few options to support that.  And as the world seems to be getting more expensive, you’ll be happy some of these options are free, inexpensive and our service prices are remaining the same, because we know this kind of support is vitally important in times of stress for your health.

Option 1 – Acupuncture for Nervous system regulation.

Did you know there are many points that help the body calm down and destress.  This can be supportive for hypertension or anxiety.  Many folks fall asleep while receiving acupuncture and leave much calmer than when they arrived.  Please ask for this support in addition to treating  physical system on your next visit.  Mental and physical issues can be addressed simultaneously, and  you do not need a separate appointment.  My Acupuncture associate Pearl Mertins will be returning April 20 – 24, and now is a great time to book in for her talented caring massage or acupuncture sessions.  Her online calendar is open for booking now from the flourishing health website.

Option 2 –  Attend a  free masterclass from an esteemed coaching friend on “finding your bliss”, and what does that even mean in our stressful life?  Here is the link if you’d like to read more on that: https://wwwfindingthebliss.com/the-bliss-journey-masterclass/?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email

Option 3 – Attend the Wellnest Retreat offered locally for the in person experience  while building community and  being  luxuriously supported by another therapist/ artist  friend of mine by name of Valina Swan.  I will be offering reflexology lessons there for health support too.  Description as follows:

The Wellnest Retreat, will provide a supportive environment and practice “Un-doing” what no longer serves each of us. Take a pause from the demands of daily life and gift yourself the space to reconnect with yourself. April 17, 18, 19, @ House of the Friesians  Invermere BC. For more info or to register contact Valina at contactthewellnestretreat@gmail.com

Option 4 – May 8 Nature therapy with a walk I will lead, to share info on “Foraging in the Columbia Valley Ecosystem”.  This walk and talk will point out about 30 edible or medicinal plants on a 2 km stroll, and give you a chance to taste a few of them in a spring tea, tincture or salad.   You can find this sign up info for it on the  Wings over the Rockies website.  http://wingsovertherockies.org  I am also going on weekly foraging walks to make herbal medicines, and have lots of local herbs to share.   If interested please contact me directly.

Option 5 – As soon as those tasty dandelions start popping up, if they are grown on a clean unsprayed place add some petals or tangy young leaves or even the crunchy flower buds to a spring tonic salad and know you are tuning up your body for spring activities, and cleansing your liver too.

Option 6 Start planning for a summer retreat to continue the community building and self care through learning various tools that the wonderful Osteopath Renata Wark, Somatic Therapist Andrea Sakamoto and myself will share on June 13 and 14, or July 10, 11, 12, or July 15.    Details are still being finalized, yet  a bit of info I can share is these transformative days will be held at lovely Fairmont property with sauna, salt therapy room, solo and group spaces of beauty for skill learning, meditation and nature immersion.   We will have early registration in place for these by May.

Option 7 Watch for  Flourishing Health You tube weekly  video health tip, beginning soon, in April.  Send your email suggestions to me for delving into with my extensive bag of tools such as herbs, aromatherapy, Qi Gong, Traditional Chinese Medicine Diet therapy, or acupressure.  Email address is flourishinghealth4all@gmail.com

I hope one or more of these entice you to build and support  your health through an enjoyable spring season.

As always you may book sessions online at Flourishinghealth.ca or by texting 250-688-0033.  Happy showers and sunshine to each of you.
